BEVERLY HILLS, CALIF. - OCTOBER 28, 2008 - Zeesman Communications, Inc., Los Angeles' leading strategic creative communications firm, today announced that its President and CEO Bonnie Nijst has been elected to the Board of Directors for the California Family Health Council (CFHC). Ms. Nijst brings more than 20 years of experience in marketing, advertising, media and management to the Council and was selected for her background as a marketing professional and as a business owner.

CFHC coordinates and supports the delivery of health services in community-based organizations throughout California. The organization directs funding for providers of family health services, performs advanced research in reproductive health care and contraception, conducts education, training and community outreach efforts, and tests, implements and monitors effective programs.
Ms. Nijst will work with the board of directors to define the strategic direction and values of CFHC. The board is dedicated to advancing the mission and strategic vision of CFHC. Ms. Nijst, along with the other board members, will work on the balanced score card and strategic themes, and evaluate progress toward achieving its stated goals and objectives. As part of the board, Ms. Nijst will assist with the annual budget and quarterly fiscal analysis and confer with the independent auditor as needed.
In addition, Ms. Nijst has been elected to the Minority Business Enterprise Input Committee (MBEIC) of the Southern California Minority Business Development Council (SCMBDC). The SCMBDC is the largest nonprofit minority business advocacy organization in the region, and the MBEIC functions as the liaison between the organization's 300 corporate members and the minority business community at large. As a member of the committee, Ms. Nijst will be responsible for providing feedback from minority businesses to board members on the effectiveness of SCMBDC's programs and activities.
The Southern California Minority Business Development Council's mission is to support and develop minority business enterprises to compete and succeed in the open market by opening the corporate purchasing and contracting door for minority business owners, to provide corporations with information on qualified minority suppliers, and to enhance employment in the minority community through increased corporate purchases.
In addition to managing Zeesman Communications, Ms. Nijst is a passionate contributor to the local business community. She is past president of the Los Angeles Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners and past vice chair of the board of directors of the Enterprise Institute of NAWBO-LA, the organization's 501 (c) 3 foundation. She is a past president of Women in Communications/Los Angeles and a past Los Angeles board member of the International Association of Business Communicators. She is also a member of the Beverly Hills Chamber of Commerce Economic Development Council, Women Presidents' Organization and the Los Angeles Area Chamber of Commerce.
Ms. Nijst has more than 20 years of experience in sales, marketing, public relations and communications consulting. Her background includes senior management positions at Medialink Worldwide, the world's largest broadcast public relations company; MCTV (now Medialink Strategic Consultants), Medialink's corporate communications consulting division; PR Newswire, the world's largest private wire service; and Internet Wire (now Market Wire), the largest Internet-distributor of press releases.
